Classification brings a technical framework to the assessment of a vessel’s structure, machinery and relevant systems. Aegean Lloyd’s planned approach connects design information, survey observations and technical review so that the basis of each class-related decision can be followed over time.

01

Scope defined for the vessel

The starting point is the vessel’s identity, type, principal particulars, service profile and available technical records. New construction, an existing vessel and a significant modification require different assessment plans. The applicable technical basis and the limits of the requested service must be agreed before the assignment proceeds.

  • Hull structure and relevant arrangements
  • Machinery, electrical systems and equipment
  • Survey history, findings and follow-up records
02

From preparation to technical review

The proposed workflow starts with a document review and a defined survey scope. Field observations are recorded against the assignment, supported by relevant evidence. Findings are reviewed, outstanding matters identified and the outcome recorded by personnel with the appropriate authority. Changes to vessel particulars should retain their history.

03

Class and statutory work

Classification and statutory certification have distinct bases. Statutory surveys and certificates on behalf of a flag Administration require the relevant authorization. A class-related record is not, by itself, evidence of that authorization. Aegean Lloyd will publish its confirmed scope and any applicable limitations before offering the corresponding service.

SERVICE AVAILABILITY

This page describes the service framework being developed. Acceptance of any assignment depends on a confirmed technical scope, suitable personnel and the required approvals or authorizations. It does not claim flag recognition, IACS membership or accredited verifier status.
